Nutrafol Postpartum was formulated for women to take after childbirth through their first year postpartum. We recommend taking the product for 3-6 months and beyond to support your recovery and replenish your body to promote better hair growth. If you are still breastfeeding after the first year, we recommend continuing with Nutrafol Postpartum. Once you’ve stopped breastfeeding, you can switch to Nutrafol Women.
- When should I expect to see results?

Every woman’s postpartum hair journey is different. After giving birth, estrogen and progesterone decline abruptly, while cortisol starts to increase drastically, igniting a shift in the hair growth cycle. Normally, the hair growth cycle resets after 6-15 months, but Nutrafol Postpartum was formulated to support recovery through this transition for better hair growth with breastfeeding-friendly ingredients during the first year after birth. These 100% drug-free ingredients address and manage underlying imbalances in the body during the first three months of taking the product and beyond.

All of our ingredients were chosen to help support recovery from nutrient depletion and the physical and emotional stress that can lead to thinning hair in postpartum women during a time when they are likely breastfeeding. They’re used within FDA-set doses for postpartum women with no ingredients found to be contraindicated in breastfeeding.1,2

- Why am I experiencing shedding on this product?

During pregnancy, higher levels of hormones like estrogen help keep hair in a prolonged growth phase that would have normally graduated to the natural shedding phase of the cycle otherwise. So women get to enjoy less hair shedding during pregnancy.
After giving birth, hormones including estrogen and progesterone decline while cortisol increases, which breaks that prolonged growth spell and causes all those hairs to enter their overdue shedding phase at once.1 Most women report noticing this peak hair shedding 2-3 months postpartum.2
So while more shedding after giving birth can be normal short-term, we also know that issues like nutrient deficiencies, cumulative stress, and lack of rest can delay the time it takes our hair to get back into the growth phase. Nutrafol Postpartum can help fill the gaps in nutrition after childbirth between prenatal formulas and postnatal needs with concentrated ingredients for hair growth focused on recovery through your postpartum transition. Just remember that Nutrafol Postpartum is for use after childbirth, not during pregnancy. Nutrafol Postpartum Hair Growth Nutraceutical is a daily hair growth supplement OBGYN-formulated for women in the first year postpartum with vitamins, minerals, and natural ingredients to target root causes of thinning—such as physical and emotional stress, hormonal changes, and nutrient depletion—for thicker, fuller hair and less overall shedding.
To evaluate product efficacy, Nutrafol sponsored two clinical studies completed through third parties with over 60 postpartum women. Study 1 included participants within 6 months postpartum while study 2 included participants within 10 months postpartum.
Our first study on Nutrafol Postpartum Hair Growth Nutraceutical showed real-world new moms' impression of taking this supplement for 8 months. Results showed that: 91% of users saw less hair shedding after 2 months; 91% saw improvement in their hairline after 4 months; and 100% saw visibly thicker hair after 6 months.
Our second study on Nutrafol Postpartum Hair Growth Nutraceutical evaluated real-world moms' impression of taking this supplement for 6 months. Results further support improvements in hair shedding and hair growth. Survey results showed that: 96% of users saw improvement in hair appearance; 96% saw an increase in baby hairs growing out; and 100% saw longer hair after 6 months.
